You did hit the nail on the head, it is the wastefulness of people who are supplied with perfectly good water who are creating the problem. And every one should keep a small supply in case of emergency. In daily life, if people with good water would just use a refillable water bottle, it would make a big impact.J Trouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04075592638523099501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042223429499223030.post-85539403825520473722010-10-19T08:08:22.678-07:002010-10-19T08:08:22.678-07:00Aw, I can't watch this!

The reality in the developing world is that bottled water could and should be used to get this vital resource to the worlds poorest. The only way this will happen is through the continued expansion of companies like Volvic and Evian. It took me a lot of study to come to terms with that fact!

Of course, we in the West take things for granted, and are currently extremely wasteful, but sometimes things should be allowed to run their natural course before we all turn against them!

Best,
MattCoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17301019334414691535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042223429499223030.post-4080662050193029322010-08-12T08:28:30.677-07:002010-08-12T08:28:30.677-07:00Yes I know it's sad how we just don't look...Yes I know it's sad how we just don't look outside of our little world to see the rest...J Trouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04075592638523099501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042223429499223030.post-12070507413694943242010-08-12T03:49:35.551-07:002010-08-12T03:49:35.551-07:00We seldom see the dark side of life.

You are so very right...keeping the well site clean, making sure there are not openings in the top of the well that are not properly screened so insects, dirt, mice, or mice / bird droppings cannot go directly into the well. Finally, if the well is no longer used, have it decomissioned. It will cost some moeny for a licensed well driller to come out and properly decomission a well (according to DOE standards), but the cost is a drop in a bucket compared to potential libility for contaminating the aquifer, or if a larger diamenter well, for having a child fall into it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8042223429499223030.post-86516815481524173512008-10-27T22:18:00.000-07:002008-10-27T22:18:00.000-07:00That is fortunate. We have a lot of garden birds come to the pond for water every day. I had to keep an old dish full of water for these birds who gathered round it for their daily drink.
